You have probably heard, “The Metaverse,” being referenced sometime throughout your daily life. The term has been very popular lately in modern tech culture. With the exploration into virtual reality possibilities and cryptocurrency having more exposure, The Metaverse has been the talk of the blockchain world.

As a video gamer the term, “meta,” is loosely referred to as the current state of the game, what things look like, what characters are often chosen, which abilities are often used. You have a world, characters, currency, trade, and earning capabilities (quests/gameplay). Crypto has really allowed the ecosystem to function in its entirety. Whereas games before payed you in a centralized token that had no liquidity or out of game value. Can you imagine if World of Warcraft was a play to earn game and the gold actually had liquidity and value? Hard to believe so many countless hours were spent playing video games and not 1 cent was earned. Each Metaverse is like a full functioning society with a liquid cryptocurrency as the monetary standard. Each project has their own versions of The Metaverse, yet all the different projects are coming together through projects like Decentraland and The Sandbox. Walking through Decentraland as a Sneaky Vampire to visit an NFT museum, hanging out with a Bored Ape at the same time and place.

So what do you think? Is the future going to be everyone living a virtual life? Covid has shown us that life can change dramatically and things we previously thought of as unlikely are becoming realities. Restrictions on engagements and the ability to go outside have been affected by Covid. People work from the home, making their living over the computer device. Is partying in The Metaverse as fun as partying the physical club? Can you really go to the gym online? There are so many different conversations to be had regarding this subject. I’m very bullish on The Metaverse and believe its true use case will be ironed out over the coming years.

Oh, and here’s my new apartment to house myself in the Metaverse. At least I don’t have to vacuum it.
